Not sure whether gold, silver, antique silver, or antique gold wedding jewelry is the right choice for you? Here are some tips for selecting the finish that’s perfect for you on your wedding day.

The Choice: Gold Wedding Jewelry or Silver Wedding Jewelry

Our first tip: shopping for your wedding jewelry should be a fun and exciting experience, so don’t let yourself stress about it. Ultimately, the cardinal rules are to choose jewelry pieces that complement your gown and that you love. Simple enough, right?

Using Your Gown to Guide You

Since your gown is the central piece of your wedding ensemble, you can use it to help you choose your bridal jewelry. When it comes to selecting a gold or silver jewelry finish, the color of your wedding dress can be the ideal guide. As you shopped for wedding gowns, you probably discovered the vast array of shades of white; now that knowledge can help you match your white to shades of gold and silver.

A bright white gown often is best paired with silver or antique silver jewelry. The bright, clear color of this type of dress will be beautifully complemented by the silver wedding jewelry, creating a fresh, sophisticated look.

Ivory wedding gowns can be lovely with both silver and gold wedding jewelry. With this color of dress, think about the type of bridal look you’d like to create. If you’re thinking of a warm color scheme, gold or antique gold wedding jewelry is the way to go. To “cool down” and modernize an ivory gown, consider silver jewelry instead.

The color and richness of a champagne-colored wedding gown will be brought out magnificently if paired with gold bridal jewelry. Gowns that already incorporate some metallic elements, such as decorative silver stitching or gold-toned beading, will likely look best matched with jewelry of a similar finish.
